Privacy policy
Glowpane runs entirely in your browser. It collects no data and sends nothing anywhere.
What it collects
Nothing. There are no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking, and the extension makes no network requests of its own.
What it stores on your device
- Your settings from the toolbar panel, such as whether Two windows or ambient light is on.
- How many videos you watched with the split, up to the one time it asks for a rating, and whether it asked.
- If you turn on Remember my layout, your pane sizes and which panes are collapsed.
- Where you placed the second window, and its size.
- The last Ambient mode setting it read from YouTube's player menu, so the glow follows your choice in dark theme.
- While Two windows is on, which tab and window are paired. This is temporary and cleared when the browser closes.
- When Two windows switches the video, your playback speed for a moment, so the next video keeps it. It's removed as soon as it's applied.
This stays in your browser's own storage and is never sent anywhere.
Permissions
- Access to youtube.com: to rearrange the watch page, to draw the ambient light from the video on your screen, and to notice when the video tab leaves a video so the second window can close.
- Storage: to remember the settings listed above.
- Scripting: only right after you install Glowpane, to start it in YouTube tabs that are already open, so you don't have to reload them.
This website
This website has no analytics or tracking. The video on the home page is a still image until you click play; only then does it load from YouTube, in its privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies to it.
When you remove Glowpane, Chrome opens a short goodbye page on this website. Nothing about you is sent with it.
